SYREN Modern Dance

SYREN Modern Dance is a New York City based company co-founded by Lynn Peterson and Kate St. Amand. Now in its 18th season, SYREN is impassioned to explore, connect, and above all to seek and share knowledge through the art of dance. SYREN has been exploring the intersection of science and art since 2015, which led to the premiere of “Red and Blue, Bitter and Sweet” in 2017. This dance was inspired by quantum mechanics, specifically entanglement, uncertainty principle, super position, and duality. SYREN’s most recent work “Ticktock” was created from September 2018-March 2019, and is performed in collaboration with Astrophysicist Paul Sutter. “Ticktock” is an exploration of time using dance and narrative sequences, and in June 2019 it was featured in the Bryant Park Contemporary Dance series in the heart of Manhattan.
