University of Minnesota Marching Band

What began in 1892 as the University Cadet Band with 29 members has evolved into the renowned 320-member University of Minnesota Marching Band, the “Pride of Minnesota.” Members of the Pride of Minnesota serve as highly recognizable and well-respected ambassadors for the University of Minnesota, performing across the United States and around the globe.

The University of Minnesota Marching Band performs for seven home football games each year, providing an 18-minute pregame show and a different halftime performance for each game. The Pride of Minnesota also accompanies the University of Minnesota Football team to post-season bowl games across the United States. Recent notable performances include the Band’s 2018 appearance with Justin Timberlake at the Super Bowl LII Halftime Show and a 2019 appearance with the Jonas Brothers. Members of the University of Minnesota Marching Band are university students who dedicate hundreds of additional hours on top of their academic responsibilities in service of the University, the State of Minnesota, and the United States.
